“The Bugle” is a film in which we are shown the life story of an elderly person whose lifelong passion is playing the trumpet. Throughout the film we are accompanied by the calm, hoarse voice of the narrator, who tells us about his story and fame.

The film is meant to mislead the viewer – he is supposed to think that the story is being told by the protagonist – the bugle player, which by the very end of the film is supposed to turn out to be a false assumption.

A surprising narrative twist reveals that the real protagonist is the trumpet player – whose one goal in life is to complete the bugle call – something she was never ultimately given.


The entire production is based on warm color tones, dominated by the shades we associate with the city of Krakow – green and red.

The gold of the trumpet, in the last shot, fueled by the light that adds to its brilliance, emerges from the dark room.
